Architecture In Situ

While the artifacts themselves tell the story of Byzantine Beth Shean, the museum archives contain numerous photos of the excavations in progress.  Many of the field notes tell the story of Beth Shean as the objects were coming out of the ground.  They give access to the difficulties that the excavators faced in identifying key issues such as the dating and purpose of specific structures.

This gallery features some of the pictures from the field their field notes.  Please click through the photos for more insight into the early excavations at Beth Shean.
