Pilaster Capital

Pilaster, Late 5th/Early 6th c.

This marble decorative element shows a highly stylized acanthus leaf facade common to Early Byzantine Scythopolis.  The remaining traces of pigment give us just a hint of the vibrant, multicolored environment.
